1926 PCGS MS-63 $10 Indian Head Eagle Gold Coin – Rive d’Or Collection The Indian Head Gold Eagle Coin was the official $10 currency in the US, minted from 1907 to 1919 and then sporadically until 1933.  The 1926 edition came after a four-year production break from 1921 to 1925. These coins were exclusively produced at the Philadelphia Mint, containing .48375 oz of actual gold and featuring Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design.  Due to their gold content, many 1926 Indian Head Eagle Coins were confiscated, following the Gold Confiscation Act of 1933, hoarded, and melted down, significantly reducing the number of coins available on the market. These coins, in particular, come from the Rive d’Or Hoard, also called the Bank of Gold Hoard, one of Europe’s most renowned gold coin treasures. These gold coins had been stored in a Paris bank vault and were out of circulation for decades. When an American dealer rediscovered and released them in 2008, they sparked significant curiosity and great interest among numismatists. Today, SD Bullion offers 1926 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins from the Rive d’Or Collection, sealed in PCGS slabs and certified as MS-63 samples. On the reverse, a Bald Eagle stands on an arrow wrapped around an olive branch. The mottos “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” flank the eagle. The nation’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” arches on top while the coin’s face value of “TEN DOLLARS” is at the bottom rim. A PCGS MS-63 Coin PCGS – Professional Coin Grading Service is an independent third-party company that appraises and grades coins based on the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70 according to their condition. According to the scale, MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business sample format. Grade 63 indicates that the coin may present marks and minor visible hairlines.
