The Design The obverse Lady Liberty design got a closer version of its original depiction, featuring details that were not possible before. Lady Liberty still walks toward the sun’s rays, enveloped in the American flag, with laurel and oak branches on her left arm and a stretched right arm.  The inscription “LIBERTY” arches over the image, “IN GOD WE TRUST” is engraved on the right on the right, and the year of mintage is at the bottom. The artist’s initials were added beneath the motto inscription on the lower right. The new reverse design is a creation of Emily Damstra, which, instead of a Heraldic Eagle, features a more natural Bald Eagle with spread wings landing and carrying an oak branch. The San Francisco Mint began production after the introduction of this new design. Because of this, the San Francisco Mint only ever produced the Type 2 silver eagle proof design. The inscriptions on this side are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” right above “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”  Mintage This American Silver Eagle Proof Coin was produced in the San Francisco branch and features the characteristic “S” mintmark on the reverse design.
