They were produced by the Austrian Mint, who is now famous for producing the Silver Philharmonic Coins and Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins. Each of these coins is a restrike by the Austrian Mint. These coins were first restruck in 1975. The obverse of these Austrian Corona Gold Coins features the right-facing profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I. He was the ruler over Austro-Hungary for 68 years from 1848 until his death in 1916. Austro-Hungary would split into two countries following the end of WWI in 1918. He was one of the longest-serving leaders in European history. The reverse of Gold Corona Coins features the double-headed eagle wearing the crown of Austria. “100” & “COR” are minted on either side of the eagle with “1915” minted at the bottom of the coin. “CORONÆ’ is minted at the top of the coin along with “MDCCCCXV” which is 1915 in Roman numerals.
